PERFORMING ARTS (BTEC) - COLLABORATION
Location: Laurelhill Community College
Specific Entry Requirements: Minimum Grade C in GCSE Drama or Merit in BTEC Level 2 Performing Arts is desirable.
Course Content Mandatory units:
Investigating Practitioners’ Work - Learners will investigate and critically analyse the work of two practitioners in a response to a task set by the awarding body, this will take the form of an essay.
Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance – Learners will explore technical performance skills with a focus on developing skills and techniques in at least two performance styles. This will include practical workshops focusing on acting, dance, musical theatre and physical theatre. A final performance piece presenting one style will be internally assessed.
Group Performance Workshop - Students will learn how to respond to a given stimulus e.g. poem, theme, photograph, as part of a group, using research, discussion and practical exploration to develop performance material and later present an informal presentation of the work to an invited audience.

Assessment Methods: There are three mandatory units, 1 internal and 2 external. Learners must complete and achieve a Pass grade or above for all these units.
Progression: Successful students may wish to pursue a career in the world of theatre, TV, film, radio and entertainment. Employment opportunities also exist in arts administration, teaching, marketing and arts therapy.
